Frances Ann Purcell Liddy, also known as Frances Liddy, is an economic analyst and a public school teacher. As a gracious woman of culture and devotion, she is still praised today for her amazing character as a committed wife, loving mother, and a responsible woman.
Frances Liddy’s Early Years and her Family
Frances was born on December 2, 1932, She was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York. Not much detail about her childhood is revealed, but as for her amazing character, we can assume that she was raised in a descent environment by her father, Thomas F. Purcell, and mother, Alfarata Toomey Purcell.
Francis graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and completed her heigher studies from the College of New Rochelle with a degree in Economics before earning her Masters Degree in Education from the State University of New York, New Paltz.
Frances Purcell Liddy began her career at a savings bank, followed by a position as an economic analyst for Central Hudson Gas & Electric Company. She then worked for IBM before transitioning into education. For 18 years, she taught in public schools in both the City of Poughkeepsie and Washington, D.C. After her education, Frances started working as a writer for the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM).

Frances is married to George Gordon Battle Liddy or shortly known as G. Gordon Liddy, an American lawyer and FBI agent who is also the prime reason for her wide popularity. Gordon and Frances got married on November 9, 1957, in Saint Mary’s Church in Poughkeepsie, New York. The devoted couples are blessed with three sons, including Tom Liddy, James Gordon Liddy, Ray Liddy and daughters Alexandra Bourne & Grace Alfarata Liddy.
Not only sons and daughters but also the couples are now also blessed with twelve grandchildren. Gordon was imprisoned for fifty-two months in a federal prison due to his involvement in the Watergate scandal, where he was charged with conspiracy, burglary, and unlawful wiretapping, which also resulted in Richard Nixon’s resignation. Frances played a crucial role during this time and proved herself as a women of pride & responsibility as she stayed strong, she took the stand for her childrens in the absence of Gordon.
After prison, Gordon re-established his career in publishing & television with his autobiography titled “Will”, successfully selling over a million copies. During this period, Frances Liddy was instrumental in supporting their family while they pursued various projects, including writing best-selling books and appearing in films and television.
How and when did Frances Liddy Die?
Frances Ann Purcell Liddy died on February 5, 2010, in Oxon Hill, Maryland, while she was 79. She will always be fondly remembered for her unwavering love & support for Gordon throughout his complex career and for their family.

Frances’s funeral was held with the presence of all her loved ones at Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory in the same town. She passed away by leaving behind her angelic character behind that sets an example for a respectable woman to our global society forever.
